www.change.org are calling for a petition to Danny Alexander MP (Chief Secretary to the Treasury) to reverse the planned reduction in Kew Garden’s Grant in Aid.

You can read about it at www.change.org here: https://www.change.org/p/globally-important-conservation-and-science-under-threat-at-royal-botanic-gardens-kew-due-to-uk-government-cuts-5m-deficit-will-lead-to-loss-of-over-120-posts?

Whilst this petition is not endorsed by Kew Gardens, they have made the following statement:

A Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew spokesperson said, “We are grateful for the incredible public affection shown for Kew from across the globe. “We want to reassure our supporters, donors and partners that we have a plan in place to combat the deficit, and to put Kew on a firm footing for the future so that we can continue to make a vital contribution to plant science, conservation, education and horticulture.”
